PREEA EVENT: U.S.-BELARUS RELATIONS: HUMAN RIGHTS AND DIPLOMACY (March 25, 12:30 to 2:00 pm) March 25 is Belarusian Freedom Day, commemorating the founding in 1918 of the short-lived Belarusian Democratic Republic. Join Professionals in Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Affairs (PREEA) for a discussion on the role of democracy and human rights in U.S. foreign policy toward Belarus. Featured speakers include: David Kramer, Freedom House President; Orest Deychakiwsky, Helsinki Commission Senior Advisor; Michael Uyehara, Director of the Office of European Affairs, DRL, U.S. Department of State; and Vitaut Kipel, Director of the Belarusan Institute of Arts and Sciences. The Moderator is Alice Kipel, President of Belarusan-American Association, Washington, DC Chapter.
