We are very excited to announce our first policy dinner of the year! Ruy Teixeira will discuss the shifting demographics of the US and how they have decisively shifted the political terrain in progressives' favor. He will cover Obama's victory in 2008 and also consider possibilities for future elections. Teixeira is a Senior Fellow at both The Century Foundation and the Center for American Progress, as well as a Fellow of the New Politics Institute. He was recently a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution, where he co-directed a joint Brookings-American Enterprise Institute project on political demography and geography, The Future of Red, Blue and, Purple America, and wrote a series of reports with William Frey on the political geography of battleground states in the 2008 election. He is the author of six books, including The Emerging Democratic Majority, written with John Judis (Scribner, 2002). It was selected as one of the best books of the year by The Economist magazine. We can accommodate twenty students at this dinner. Priority will be given to graduating students. Priority at the next policy dinner will be given to graduating students who were unable to attend this dinner. Details: Wednesday, November 4 6:30pm Bistro Francais 3128 M Street |
