SFS Qatar student, Fatima Muneer will be debuting her photography from Tanzania in Midnight Mug beginning Wednesday, November 11. Midnight Mug is located on the second floor of Lauinger Library and the exhibition will last two weeks. On February 27, 2009, a group of Georgetown SFS Qatar students traveled to Tanzania during their spring break. The trip aimed to give these students a first hand perspective of the issues developing sub-Saharan African countries face. Students met up with numerous members of NGO community in Tanzania to acquire an understanding of the pros and cons within the aid system of the country. Students also explored the most prominent health issues in the nation-- malaria and HIV/AIDS. Lastly, the SFSQ students spent time in a rural village helping to construct much needed dormitories in a school for students learning English and Geography. This photo exhibition hopes to offer a visual presentation of the highlights and perspectives observed during the trip. |
