Details	Freedom Without Walls A project week celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall Organized by the Department of German in cooperation with the German Information Center. Speech competition/Redewettbewerb Tuesday, November 10 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in ICC Room 450 WIN A TRIP TO BERLIN FOR TWO, AIRFARE AND HOTEL INCLUDED! Or, at least, win a monetary prize awarded by the Department of German to the best speech by a student of German at GU. The German Embassy is sponsoring a speech competition in the context of the “Freedom without Walls” project week. All participating departments in the US can enter competitors. And, believe it or not, the first prize is indeed a trip for two to Berlin, with airfare and hotel included. Speeches will be recorded and posted on youtube. A jury in Berlin will select the winner. In our Department, the speech needs to be given in German and fulfill certain content and language requirements. We will have an “internal” GU award for the best speech given and at the same time you can qualify for the award by the Embassy. Here’ s what you need to do if you want to participate: Read through the “instructions for speech competition ” posted at https://digitalcommons.georgetown.edu/blogs/freedomwithoutwalls/. Register with Prof. Astrid Weigert, weigerta@georgetown.edu. We will help all participants improve and rehearse their speeches before the event on Tuesday, November 10.
