Have you ever considered studying, teaching or doing original research abroad after graduation? Every year the US Fulbright Grant awards 1500 US Student grants to do research in fields ranging from creative writing to public health in one of 155 countries. Four recipients of Fulbright grants will share their experience abroad, the challenges of doing research in the field, and how their Fulbright experience has shaped their careers. Fields represented include medicine, history, political science and international development. Regions represented include former Yugoslavia, Bangladesh, Croatia and Singapore.
Panelists include:
Sonya Sobrian; 1987 Fulbright Scholar; conducted research on prenatal health in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
Phil Lyon; 2004 Fulbright Scholar; 'After Empire: Ethnic Germans and Minority Nationalism in Interwar Yugoslavia.'
Keisuke Nakagawa; 2004 Fulbright Scholar; 'Micro Health Insurance for Rural Villagers in Bangladesh: The Social, Economic, and Cultural Challenges.'
Joyce Handley; 2002 Fulbright Scholar; post-colonial leadership in Southeast Asia.
