This is a 12-hour self defense course designed to develop and enhance a woman's options of self defense by providing information on risk reduction and hands-on techniques. The class is taught by Georgetown University employees who have been certified as instructors through RAD Systems, Inc.. RAD Systems is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. This system of realistic defense is designed to provide women with the knowledge to make an educated decisions concerning resistance. This class is open to female faculty and staff. Loose fitting clothing or athlectic wear required (jeans are too restrictive). Tennis shoes, basketball shoes, aerobic shoes or multipurpose footwear work best; running shoes are not recommended as they do not provide acceptable side to side support of the foot.
