| Details | This workshop will focus on creating assignments that require students to engage in the course subject matter in ways that develop their library research skills, habits of thinking and of practice. Information fluency encompasses how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively and, particularly, how to use newer web-based tools to facilitate this process. Participants will share experiences in developing and implementing student assignments which encourage fluency and those that don’t. In addition, we’ll discuss ways to incorporate student inquiry into these sorts of assignments. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a greater understanding of information fluency and how the library can partner with faculty in creating and implementing assignments to enrich the student learning experience. Instructors: Janet Russell (CNDLS), Beth Marhanka (Gelardin), Sandy Hussey (Lauinger), Yan He (Blommer), Laurie Davidson (Dahlgren) and Sarah Cantrell (Dahlgren). |
